Wrap Music
In lieu of tonal differentiation, Wrap Music deploys a continuous architectural surface which choreographs an immersive subjective experience as the metaphorical embodiment of the act of musical listening.
The inflection of the hypar-hyperboloid composite surface produces a thick habitable zone of vertical continuity and circulation wrapped around the more densely packed core of galleries and museum spaces. This thick and continuous perimeter allows one to partake in dynamic sectional overlooks as it allows patrons to recalibrate their relationship to the exterior.
For any given hypar surface, there exists an orientation(s) such that both U and V curve fields of ruling lines produce an orthogonal grid in two perpendicular projections. For each of these specific orientations, there also exists a unique hyperboloid (of one sheet) which can be stitched in a smooth and piece-wise continuous manner. The vertical column grid and horizontal projections from the piecewise continuous wall surfaces comprise the orthogonal armature of Wrap Music’s interior spaces.
